Cooking and Improv

I love cooking, but I'm not the type to follow recipes completely.  I just get so bored of being told what to do by the white pages staring at me that I usually stop paying attention and fail to realize that I don't have all of the necessary ingredients, so I end up scrambling to make substitutions, as the cookbook sits on the counter silently judging me.  Or, perhaps it's like a satisfied kung fu master who sees that his pupil has finally mustered the courage to be the person they were supposed to be all along?

Either way, I imagine that the cookbook that I am cooking out of is anthropomorphised and scorns at my improvisation when I find out that some of the necessary ingredients for the recipe I am currently making are not residing in my house at that particular moment in time.

The cookbook, in my mind, looks like this:
Big Book from Sing Me a Story With Belle
Did anyone else watch that show as a kid?!

I think this would make for a great premise for a cooking show called Cooking and Improv, and the title would be derived from both the fact that I would spaz out and substitute ingredients for ones I have in the house, and also from the fact that my friend Sarah -- an ACTRESS -- would be doing improvisation during the boring parts of the show (or to cover up my swearing as I realized that I have nothing in the pantry).

I would be all: "Today, we're going to make Cream of Broccoli soup, and first we're going to need to prep the broccoli -- SHIIIIT....ake mushrooms!  That's what we're going to have to use instead, because we're all out of broccoli!"  And then Sarah would do some zany improv -- about who knows what! -- and it would be comedic and culinary genius!

Is this an awesome idea? Y/Y?
